German-American Kat Eidmann (27) was working with an international management consulting firm in Mumbai but left to launch La Farine in Bangalore in 2014 along with a colleague. Kat says she came to Bangalore because of the city's strong foodie culture and openness to new food experiences.


La Farine is an online portal that sells fresh doughs and batters for breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes and also sweets and snacks. You can order the batter or dough (for pizzas, pancakes, pita bread, brownies, waffles, muffins, cookies and rotis) on the website and it will be delivered to you for free. For Rs.60 you can get enough pizza dough to make two 8-inch pizzas.The products are natural with no added preservatives and you can customise and experiment as you wish. 


In an earlier interview, Kat had said that while they source most ingredients locally, their biggest challenge has been procuring high-quality flour and brown sugar, which are key ingredients in their products. They are currently getting their flour custom-milled to specifications and are importing the brown sugar. Next year they are planning to expand to other major metros in India.
