What's unique about the red carpet looks of award-winning actors Emma Watson and Lupita Nyong? The outfits are made out of recycled plastic bottles.
The women looked stunning at the Mother-of-all fashion events, the Met Gala. They wore dresses designed by Calvin Klein in collaboration with Ecoage's Green Carpet Challenge (GCC).
The fabrics of the outfits are woven from yarns made from recycled plastic bottles, the zippers are made from recycled materials and the inner bustier has been created using organic cotton. Emma's outfit was also designed to be re-purposed for future use; the pants can be worn on their own, the train can be used for another red carpet.
GCC's main job is to highlight sustainable fashion at the world’s most high profile events. They create ethical red carpet dresses to stress on the importance of sustainable fashion. They work with design teams and celebrities to create these beautiful dresses.
Plastic is one of the biggest pollutants – being able to turn this waste into a high quality material is...simply WOW!
