Escape room-experiences are the closest you can get to feeling like you are 'inside a video game'.After all they are based on the classic “escape the room” online games; a sort of physical manifestation of video games. You gotta 'actually' move - your body, mind and wit - to play this game.
The players (a minimum of two is required, though it would be more fun if you have around 4 or 5 people) are locked in a room with a few clues and objects. They have to solve the mystery and get out of the room. And they have to do it fast, because they are running against time. The game is of 90 minute duration with a 10-15 minute pre-game brief and 60 mts of play time.
In Bangalore, you can indulge in this adventure games at the Escape Hunt on 100 ft Road in Indiranagar. They are open 365 days from 10 am to 9 pm. Game prices are per person and depend on the number of players. It starts from Rs.499 per person. The more the players the lesser the per person price. (You can either book online bangalore.escapehunt.com or call 9845333958).
The Escape Hunt was originally founded by Paul Bart in 2013 in Bangkok. It was an instant hit and today attracts thousands of visitors everyday. Hundreds of escape rooms have opened up across the globe. On an average they open a new branch every week somewhere in the world. All the games are created inhouse (local flavours are added without fail) in their Global Game Design Academy in Bangkok.
The Bangalore Escape Hunt offers three games:
Anchorage Assassination: The ship has arrived and anchored but just for an hour. A wealthy merchant has been killed on board. You have to solve the crime before the ship depart.
Bollywood Murder: The lead actress of a famous Bollywood film has been murdered. There are many potential suspects. It is a high-profile case. And the murderer needs to be found before the press conference.
Trapped in an Unknown Temple: You are tourists arriving at an unknown temple with a tour guide. While you are wandering inside the temple complex, the tour guide steals your belongings and shuts the entrance door tight. The tour guide has threatened to come back within an hour to kill you – you are now trapped inside this unknown temple and only have an hour to escape. Can you escape?
Oh well, this 'live experience' seems so much better than mall-gawking.
