It's called SPERO. It's an electric bike. Nice.
But what is nicer is...it's probably the first crowdfunded electric bike in India.
SPERO is the brainchild of 38-year-old Manikandan who has been working on this project for 3 yrs and is now all set to launch 3 models of his ebike in India. His main focus was on creating an environment friendly bike, which is also affordable. An easy alternate mode of urban transport.
Manikandan is a Coimbatore-based jute machinery technocrat. And ironically, his background has been an added advantage in creating SPERO. He says: “The experience I gained through years in the factory has given me the ability to innovate this cycle to perfection. Working in the filed of manufacturing has given me the knowledge and expertise in handling machinery and sourcing materials that work best for this e-bike."

2.Great pickup: 0-25 kmph in 10 seconds flat!
3.Battery can also be charged while pedalling!
4.5 gears in the electric mode
5.48V Li-ion battery with a 1-year warranty and charges from 20 to 80% in 4 hours
6.It can be charged with a regular 5amp socket like your Smartphone! Detachable battery for ease of charging
7. It has unique cruise control feature (where one can lock the maximum speed), digital display of speed and battery charge indicator etc.
8.The spares are easily available. And you can add other features like a carrier etc to the bike
9. The eBike will be available in funky and exciting colours.

Manikandan is now trying to raise funds for his innovation onFueladream.com – the Bengaluru- based crowdfunding platform. Interestingly, the funders even have an option of buying the e-bike throughFueladream.com.
Spero (ebike) has already raised INR 9.5 Lakhs which is currently the highest funded campaign on the platform.
The pre-order prices for the 3 models on Fueladream would be from 29,900 INR to 50,900 INR, which would be 40% lower than their market price!
