Jeb with his master Job Kenneth. |
Jeb, the dog in the pic, has spent hundreds of hours training to help Job Kenneth, who suffers from a neurological disorder. Jeb's sole focus has always been his master, says the family. Job relies on the canine to help him, support him and comfort him or even fetch his wife when he is too ill to call out to her.
Jeb, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, is a service dog. However, a few months back, Jeb was sentenced to death by a judge in Michigan, USA, because the dog was suspected to have killed the neighbor's Pomeranian.
In the eyes of the law, Jeb was a dangerous dog, and the law requires that such dogs be euthanized. But Jeb's family believed in his innocence. They said that Jeb was incapable of such a gruesome act and they knew from day one that he didn't do it.
The family was determined. They fought back. They collected DNA samples from the frozen dead Pomeranian (Hmm...why would you freeze a dead dog?) and gave it for testing. The result: Jeb was not guilty.
Jeb's DNA was not found on the Pomeranian's body. Though there was some DNA present of another absconding unknown dog. Some say it is possible that the Pomeranian was killed by a coyote.
Anyway, Jeb was exonerated and released from jail where he was on death row from August. He's become a bone of bags, pining for his family, while behind bars. So, the family has rallied around him and has put him on a strict diet of meat and rice so Jeb can gain back his muscle strength.
In the meantime, Jeb refuses to leave his master's side. And Job refuses to let the dog out of his sight.
Well, every dog has its day :)
